Health food vitamins are essential to good health.
A large scale study examined over a million people in the U.S. and compared their mortality rates after segregating them into groups based on their vitamin supplements use. Those participants that had just used a vitamin supplements alone, without Vitamins A, C, or E, had minimal reductions in cancer and heart disease rates. However, those participants who had uses vitamin supplements WITH vitamins A, C, and E had significantly reduced risk of heart disease related deaths.
Fresh fruit and vegetables don't pack the vitamin potential they did even a decade ago. By the time fresh fruit gets to the store, sits on a shelf, is purchased, sits in the refrigerator, is cooked, and finally eaten, only a very small fraction of the nutritional value is left to be absorbed.
